Chapter 20

Chapter 20

Agnir receded back into Torin's mind once more. She heard the distant whisperings of everyone around Torin, "so how did you learn about magic?" It seemed Byron was intrigued by Torin's flame earlier.

Agnir began walking, ignoring the now faint whispers. Agnir was a blonde girl roughly Torin's age. Her hair was long and wavy. She chose to wear a long beautiful blue dress today with high heels. The heels clacked against the floor and echoed down an empty hallway.

"Are all boys minds so empty?" She thought to herself.

Having only her father and Torin for reference she accepted that maybe it was just the way things were.

She kept moving, and eventually saw memories appear in the distance. One was of Torin when he was young, playing with his sister terra. Or perhaps it was agnir's sister actually. She felt a warmth in her heart as she shared Torin's memories and made them her own.

She saw many memories of Torin's childhood. The further she got, the windier and colder the hallway became. Soon snow flakes were starting to breeze by her and she held her arms to keep them warm.

"where is it?" She grunted in frustration. Each memory she passed by was so similar to the last, yard work, food, play, sleep. Agnir was looking for something specific. A memory that she could not remember herself, but she knew it would be in Torin's head somewhere.

"why .. why would I choose him?" She seemed disappointed in herself. She felt frustrated but couldn't explain why.

It wasn't that she didn't like Torin. In fact it was the opposite, she couldn't imagine being away from him. She was so happy to be with him, to see his memories. Ever since she woke up though, she couldn't remember why she felt this way towards him.

She wanted to know why she wanted him. Why she wanted his heart. Why she was getting annoyed thinking about him hanging on to thena. Why the idea of eating Thena was starting to sound like a better idea every day.

She shook her head. "Torin wouldn't like that..." She kept walking.

Clack, clack

The breeze was getting colder. Agnir knew that the deeper she went into her host's mind, the colder it got. She dared not go further in Tristan's mind, but with Torin she couldn't help but push her limits.

"it'll be here... I need to know why!" She pushed on through the bitter cold.

10, 9, 8 years old. Growing up with terra would have been nice, though it seems siblings also cause a lot of trouble.

7, then 6 years old. A blurry memory of Declan coming home with a baby girl with white hair. The time she was evacuated out of the castle. She was only 1 or two years old.

Finally, agnir was getting closer to the memory she wanted. She came to one that looked like it was in the castle. It was difficult to see the details.

She got closer to the memory, "this is it." She reached a hand out to touch it. The memory began to ripple and her hand went through the image.

Agnir walked into the memory then disappeared.
